Caryolyn Newsome

Carolyn Romell Newsome was born October 1, 1939, in Adel, GA. She was the daughter of Estelle Roberts and was the eldest of three children. Soon after Graduating from High School, she married her late ex- husband Robert Newsome Sr and started her journey of motherhood. She truly loved everyone’s children; she enjoyed her time being a substitute teacher. She loved all children as her on and dedicated her life to her family. Carolyn loved to prepare delicious meals for her family and enjoyed family gatherings, Carolyn accepted Christ at age and was an active member of St, James CME Church until her illness. She enjoyed shopping and giving to the needy and people in general. To know Carolyn was to love her was a fun - loving, highly spirited highly spirited women who loved to laugh. She was a very tenacious woman and a hard worker. Carolyn never meet a stranger and if she liked you, you were a friend for life. Her legacy of love and compassion serves as a shining example to all who were privileged to know her. On May 30, 2024, she entered eternal rest and peace surrounded by loving family members. God looked from Heaven with outstretched arms and told Carolyn that you fought a good fight, you kelp the faith, and you stood in the gap. Well done good and faithful servant, welcome home. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle Roberts and Thelpo Slater; grandparents, Fannie Roberts and Lester Roberts, brother, Joe Nathan Roberts; son, Anthony Newsome and sister, Phyllis Hundley. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children, Robert (Patricia}) Newsome of Adel GA, Sharon (Johnny) Locklear of Adel GA, Felicia Newsome of Adel GA, Sabrina Newsome of Adel GA, Craige Newsome of Adel GA, Latoria Newsome of Adel GA, Sonya Newsome Adel GA. Two brothers, Don Slater (Sylvia) Atlanta GA, Joe C. Slater (Juanita) Valdosta GA, 5 sisters Dorathy Garrett of St. Petersburg Fl., Hilda Orr of Adel. GA, Debra Blackwell of Warner Roberts GA, Charlyne Slater of Adel, GA., Gloria Jene Smith (Shelly) of Albany of GA. Sixteen Grandchildren, Thirty-five Great- grands, One Great- Great Grand. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
