DEACON DAVID PAYNE SR. was born on June 7, 1942, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Eddie Roy and Leola Payne. He was educated in the public school system. During this life he wore many hats. He loved grilling and feeding people in the community. He was a volunteer fireman, city councilman, mayor pro-tem, bus driver, farmer, and worked at Del-Cook Lumber, and Nashville Mills as a loom fixer. A longtime member of Harrell Chapel Baptist Church, Deacon David served on the Deacon Board and was chairman of the board until his health wouldn't allow him to continue to serve. He loved Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. David passed away on November 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by CHILDREN: Johnny Williams and Dianne Johnson; BROTHERS: Leroy Payne, Charlie Payne Sr., and Johnnie B. Payne; SISTERS: Maggie Wilson, Elizabeth White, and Florence Doleman. He leaves to cherish his memories his DEVOTED WIFE of 55 years, Barbara Payne; CHILDREN; Maria Smith (Connell), David Payne Jr. (Veronica), and Lisa Payne; GODDAUGHTER, Carolyn Sanders; GRANCHILDREN: Kimberly Williams (Dexter), Jamal Payne, Justin Payne, Christopher Harley, Dominique Harvey and Jimmy Johnson Jr. (Denitra); GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Brookelyn Smith and Devin Williams; BROTHERS: Andrew Payne, Richard Payne-White (Brenda), and James Payne; SISTERS: Mamie Allen, Bertha Stevens, and Betty Demps; SISTER-IN-LAW, Judy Hart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
