Gloria Jean Byron was born March 4, 1951, in Cordele GA. She was the
daughter of the late Robert Sr., and Eva Mae Odom Johnson. She departed her
life on September 15, 2024, at home.
Gloria graduated from Cook County Training School, Class of 1969. She
accepted Christ at an early age. She joined St. Matthew Grove Baptist Church
in Lenox GA. She later moved to Sparks, GA where she became a member at
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
She loved baking, cooking, and solving crossword puzzles. She LOVED her
grandchildren immensely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Tonya Byron; 2 sisters,
Betty Jean Daniels and Lillie Bell Johnson; 1 brother, Jimmy Johnson Sr., and 1
sister-in-law, Shirley Byron.
Gloria’s life and her love will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted
family: her husband Nathaniel Byron Sr.; her children, Katrina Byron (Fiancé:
Steven Henley) of Adel GA, Nathaniel Byron Jr. (Lisa) of Jonesboro GA,
Melissa Atkins (William) of Adel GA, Lisa Johnson (Curtis) of Lenox GA,
Punchurella Byron of Adel, GA and Lakesha Johnson of Sparks, GA, Rico Byron
of Valdosta, GA and Rachel Byron of Sparks, GA; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-
grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Johnson Jr. of Lenox, GA; 3 sisters, Elloise
Cooper, Mary King, and Sophia Johnson all of Tifton, GA; 1 sister-in-law,
Minnie Smith of Colorado; 3 brothers-in-law, Ira Byron (Cathy), David Byron
(Mary) and Reno Byron all of Lenox, GA; 1 special 1st cousin Jeannette S.
Gibbs of Lenox Ga, 1 caring nephew Jimmy Johnson Jr. of Atlanta GA, 2 special
nieces Michelle Smith of Atlanta GA., and Vanessa Byron of Perry, GA. A host
of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and a special friend Anetta
Calloway.
