Iris Wilson Obituary

Ms Iris Elvira Wilson was born on December 6, 1933, in Barney, Georgia, to the late Alberta and George Turner.
While attending school in Barney, Georgia, Iris met Moses, and they became high school sweethearts. Their
love grew, and they were united in marriage on January 15, 1949. Together, they built a strong and loving
family and were blessed with eight children.
Iris was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her family. She lovingly raised her
children, ensuring they were well cared for and supported. Known for her warm and pleasant personality, Iris
was affectionately called "Mom" by many. She opened her home and heart to others, often caring for those in
need and welcoming them into her family. To many in the neighborhood and congregation, she was truly a
mother figure.
In 1952, Iris and Moses moved to Detroit, Michigan, where they were introduced to a Bible study. Through
this study, they came to know Jehovah and His wonderful promises. In 1959 they symbolized their dedication
by being baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. Iris deeply loved Jehovah and demonstrated that love by faithfully
sharing in the ministry. She found great joy in speaking with others about the hope and truths found in the
Bible, and through her efforts, many came to know the truth. She had many Bible Students, who became her
spiritual daughters, and remained so until her death. She continued serving Jehovah faithfully and joyfully
throughout her life.
As a stay-at-home Mom, she lovingly supported Dad in teaching the truth and lovingly but firmly disciplining
her children. However, none of them wanted to hear the fateful words, "Wait till your Father comes home"!
Iris later worked as a Baker and Designer with Aramark Food Services/General Motors, where she prepared
delicious baked goods and desserts for many vears. Cooking and baking were among her greatest passions. She
took pride in preparing meals for her husband and children, alwavs ensuring that her home was filled with
varmth, love, and good food.
Iris had a green thumb and found great joy in caring for her plants. She took the time to nurture each one,
carefully tending to their needs and watching them grow and flourish. Her home was filled with natural beauty,
a reflection of her patience, care, and deep appreciation for Jehovah's creation.
Iris leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and generosity. She touched many lives through her
kindness, hospitality, and unwavering devotion to her family and to Jehovah. Iris was dearly loved by her
brothers and sisters in the congregation and will be remembered as someone who lived a truly happy and
fulfilling life.
Iris leaves to cherish her memory her eight children: Mary Crosby; Moses Jr. (Dolleen) Wilson; Gary Wilson;
Larry (Stella) Wilson; Iris Vanessa (Joe) Upshaw; Dennis (Jonalyn) Wilson; Curtis (Lavell) Wilson; and
Terrance (Charlotte) Wilson, and beloved adopted daughter, Joyce Jackson. 21 Grandchildren,
27 Great-grand and 5 Great-Great grandchildren. A host if nieces and nephews, and extended family, Sharon Cornish, Loretta Wilson and Earnestine Wilson and other relative and friends.
