Mary E. Covington

Ms. Mari Covington, who departed this life on July 7, 2025, at the age
of 90. Born on December 8 , 1934, in Adel, Georgia, she was the
beloved daughter of Mr. Louellen and Heneretta Johnson
A devoted a n d active member o f Saint James A M E Church i n Adel,
Georgia, Mrs. Covington served faithfully on the church usher board,
touching t h e lives of many through her dedication and service. A
proud graduate of the Cook County Trade School Class of 1952, she
worked for many years at Tift Aluminum before retiring. In addition,
she was a cherished member of the Pansy Chapter Number 119 Order
o f t h e E a s t e r n S t a r s .
Mrs. Covington was preceded i n death b y her loving husband of 6 8
years, Mr. Rossi Covington, their oldest son Kenneth Covington Sr.,
and youngest son Gerald Covington. She leaves behind a legacy o f
love through her four sons: Lynn Covington (Althea) of Adel,
Georgia; Reginald Covington (Jeanne Mapp) o f Adel, Georgia;
Aaron Covington S r. (Barbara) o f Nashville, Georgia; and Eddie
Morris of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Her daughters, Diane
Coxfield (James) of Valdosta, Georgia, and Latrice Covington o f
Tallahassee, Florida, along with a host of grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, a n d great-great-grandchildren, w i l l f o r e v e r
cherish h e r m e m o r y.
She was also preceded in death b y her sisters: Annie Pearl Johnson,
Francine Coxfield, J o a n n e Johnson, a n d Mercedes Harris. Known
for her sweet humbleness, Mrs. Covington will be deeply missed b y
all who had the privilege to know her.
In this time of sorrow, we celebrate her remarkable life and the lasting
impact she has made on her family, friends, and community.
