Mary Spencer, 79, of Adel, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2024, at Tift
Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia with her loved ones beside her.
Born to the late Mr. Robert Lee Jackson, Sr. and Ernestine Walker-Jackson on
April 21, 1945, Mary's life was a tapestry of faith, love, and family.
Mary's journey began in Cook County where she joined the church at an early
age. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and her smile spoke that every
day. She will be remembered for her service to the Lord and her never-
wavering faith.
Mary attended Adel Trading School early on and then received her CNA
certificate through Valdosta Technical School. Mary worked at Adel Memorial
Nursing Home as a CNA she also did private duty and worked at C & D Shirt
Factory. Mary was an exceptional employee who always gave her best and
loved serving her employers and her patients.
Family was paramount in Mary's life. It was in 19 that Mary's heart found its
counterpart in James Lee Spencer, Sr. Their marriage was a testament to
enduring love and together they raised four children who will forever cherish
Mary's stories and comforting words. Her children were her pride and joy. As a
wife to James, Mary supported her husband in all of his endeavors. As a
mother, she worked tirelessly to ensure that her children were nurtured in the
admonition of God.
Mary's diligence in caring for her family was the personification of a Proverbs
woman. Her life was a pillar of strength and the heart of her household as well
as her community.
Mother Spencer's loving memory will be cherished and kept alive by her
husband, James Lee Spencer, Sr., two daughters, Priscilla Spencer of Adel,
Georgia, Denise Spencer of Adel, Georgia, and two sons, James Lee Spencer, Jr.
(Lisa) of El Paso, Texas and Michael Anthony Spencer (Carol) of San Antonio,
Texas as well as two siblings, Robert Lee Jackson, Jr., (Latherine) and Katie
Damon. She will be greatly missed by her ten grandchildren, a host of nieces
and nephews, cousins, in-laws, church family and friends.
Mary Spencer's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives
she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but
her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.
