Moses Wilson, Sr., was born March 13, 1931 in Thomas County, GA to
the late Cincy and Ada Wilson.
Moses’ family moved to Brooks County where he grew up. In high
school, he met Iris Turner. She became the love of his life and they got
married on January 15, 1949, for a total of 75 years. To this union eight
children were born, Mary, Moses Jr. (Dolleen), Gary, Larry (Stella), Iris
Vanessa (Joe), Dennis (Jonalyn), Curtis (Lavell) and Terrance
(Charlotte). He also leaves to mourn his adopted daughter, Joyce
Jackson; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and
six great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended
family, Sharon Cornish, Loretta Wilson and Ernestine Wilson; other
relatives and friends.
In 1952, Moses met Jehovah’s Witnesses. He and his family studied the
Bible and learned what God required of him. He dedicated his life to
God of the Bible, Jehovah. He served in Detroit as an elder of 33 years.
After retiring from Chrysler Motor Co., he and his wife relocated in
1995 to Georgia where he continued to serve as an elder in the Adel
Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the next 29 years. He was
very much loved and respected by all in the congregation.
Moses will be missed deeply by his family and many friends who
looked up to his example as a spiritual man.
