On August 25, 2024, God called one of his faithful
servants, Sister Sarah Helen McCormick home to
rest.
She was born March 3, 1939, to the late Artis and
Ruth McCormick. At the age of seventeen,
she met her soulmate James Smith Jr.,
and they later united in holy
matrimony.
Sarah served as a faithful member of
Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church of Adel,
GA where she was a Trustee and
served on the Hospitality Ministry.
She was a nurse for many years.
She was preceded by her parents, Artis and Ruth;
sisters, Martha Nell McDonald (Joe) and Dorothy
Curry; brothers, Robert Lee McCormick (Helen),
Harold McCormick (Betty) Wayne McCormick,
Clinton McCormick and Artis McCormick, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Mr.
Terry McCormick of Adel, GA and Deidra Patterson
(Larry) of Adel, GA siblings, Mr. William A.
McCormick of Jacksonville FL and Rev. Willie
McCormick (Paulette) of Warner Robins GA; Mrs.
Willene Whitson of St. Petersburg FL, Mr. Clifford
McCormick of Lake City Fl and Mr. Edward
McCormick (Jutta) of Spangdahlem Germany;
grandchildren, Santry Patterson (Keshana), Lamar
Patterson (Vanessa), Rena Lewis (Travis), Shimica
Patterson, Terry McCormick Jr.; 13 great-
grandchildren; two special nieces, Katrina Anderson
and Wanda McDonald; special friend, Pauline
Martin; lifelong neighbors, Ann Mays, Evonne
Holton, and Katrina King; a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives, and friends including the
Mt. Pleasant CME Church of Adel GA.
