WAYMON HARLEY SR., 65, transitioned at Grady Health System on February 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. A son of the late Ed and Josephine Harley, he was born May 28, 1957, in Adel, Georgia, where he was raised and educated. WAYMON attended Cook County Training School and graduated from Cook High School in 1976. After graduation, WAYMON moved to Atlanta and worked as a gas station attendant before pursuing a career in boxing. His passion and love for sports would lead him to help organize and assist with the Atlanta Boxing Association where he earned the nickname "Rock Crusher." He was well-loved and admired by many in the community. WAYMON accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was baptized at Elm Street Church of Christ. After moving to Atlanta, he placed membership at Simpson Street Church of Christ, where he served until his health declined. WAYMON was preceded in death by his BROTHER, Calvin Harley; SISTER, Patricia Thomas; NEPHEW, Chris Harley; NIECE, Tierra Harley; and SISTER-IN-LAW, Minnie Harley. WAYMON leaves to cherish his precious memories to his DAUGHTER, Tiffany Harley of College Park, Ga; Son, Waymon Harley Jr. of College Park, Ga; 5 BROTHERS: Edward Harley of Adel, Ga; Terry Harley of Pensacola FL; Michael (Blaq Diamond) Harley of Douglasville, Ga; Larry (Sigsigma) Harley of Sparks, Ga, and Eddie (Gail) Harley of Cobb County, Ga; 3 SISTERS: Catherine Thomas, Shamby (Dwain)Mims, and Dorothy (Nana) Agyepong, all of Adel, Ga; GODDAUGHTER, April Kelly of Atlanta, Ga; SPECIAL FRIENDS, Sharon Stevens of Adel, Ga; BROTHERS AND SISTERS of Simpson Streeet Church of Christ; DR. ANGELA HARRIS, President of Atlanta Boxing Association, Atlantic City Councilman; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, organizations, friends, and close associates.
