William Smith, beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on December 4, 1967, in Hara, Georgia, William dedicated his life to serving others, both as a proud Army veteran and as an active member of his community.
A retired army veteran, William exemplified courage and commitment throughout his military career. After his service, he returned to his roots in Adel, Georgia, where he became a pillar of the community. Known for his passion for youth development, he devoted countless hours coaching basketball, inspiring young athletes to pursue their dreams on and off the court.
William was a faithful member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher & deacon board, welcoming and supporting his fellow congregants with a warm smile and open heart. His dedication to his faith and community left a lasting impact on those around him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Maple Smith; his grandmothers, Korien Smith and Clemmie Cook; and his grandfather, Walter Lee Eaton. William leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Ms. Zina Smith; his sons, Jeremiah Smith and Aiden Reed; his daughters, Melanie Smith, Ashay Smith London Reed , and LaSandra Lewis; his mother Ms. Annie Cook his brothers, Calvin Marsh, Willie Marsh, Benjamin Smith, and Derrick Smith; and his sisters, Clemmie Foster and Phyllis Smith. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Hopper Williams- Smith and Cameron Smith, as well as his special cousin, Stacey Cook, and his dear friend, Vernon Scott.
William's unwavering spirit, compassionate heart, and commitment to service will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we remember his life, we celebrate the countless ways he touched the hearts of those around him and the legacy he leaves behind.
